Our First Step Trust Projects
Our projects provide a real work environment with its emphasis on tasks, skills
and quality service and products. We do not provide a 'protected' environment,
FST is a working company with its products, targets and structures.
Everyone working in our projects contributes directly to the success of FST and the commercial viability of their own local project. Each project runs as small businesses, trading with the local community with a strong emphasis on everyone in the workforce sharing the responsibilities of running the business.

Lambeth
(Mental Health and Learning Disability) Trades with the general public,
providing services in painting and decorating, removals, garden
landscaping and maintenance, craft goods, printing and furniture restoration
FST
Abbevilles
(Mental Health and Learning Disability)Restaurant open to general
public, providing meals and catering for private functions
FST Sheffield
(Mental Health) Similar activities to FST (Lambeth) but with two retail
shops, one selling fitted kitchens and garden furniture, the other run
as a charity shop selling second hand clothes and craft goods
FST Bexley
(Mental Health) Small business providing mainly painting and decorating, minor building works, gardening and removals. Employment worker provides placements with other employers
FST Barnet
Small business, providing gardening, painting and decorating and office
services
FST Enfield
Small local enterprise in the course of development, specialising in
website design services; setting up and maintaining websites, as well as office administration skills. An external works team undertakes
painting, decorating, garden maintenance and minor building repairs.
FST Haringey
Small business, basic IT skills, IT data entry, desktop publishing,
finance- petty cash, cash book, gardening, decorating, removals,
catering and work placements.
Main Office and Employment Agency
Carries out all theadministration of the Main office, servicing the projects,
enabling FSTto run its administrative centre as a work project in office skillsIncludes
training section providing vocational qualifications, to FST workforce in computing,
office administration and horticulture
Places FST workers as temporary and part time workers with other
employers. Mainly office work at present but developing into other areas
FST Berkshire
(Broadmoor Hospital) A pilot scheme following a successful scoping
project, developing an FST work project within the high secure environment.
FST Merseyside
FST Merseyside is a developing project situated at Scott Clinic, a
50-bedded Regional Secure Unit in Rainhill, Merseyside.
FST Salford
FST (Salford) is one of two new projects set up in the summer of 2002 in Medium Secure Units in the north west of England.
FST Vehicle Recycling SMaRT
A new initiative based in Salford, removing abandoned cars off the street, and providing training to people who are experiencing disadvantages in seeking employment.
FST Ardeneligh
Our project at Ardeneleigh is working with a new Medium Secure Unit in Birmingham specialising in services for women and young people.
There are also number of other small projects based in Medium secure Centres
